Ready to say 'I do' at the altar? Well, why not apply for the next series of Married At First Sight UK. The show sees a bunch of new singletons meet the potential love of their life in the ultimate social experiment. Matched together and coached by relationship gurus Paul C. Brunson, Mel Schilling, and Charlene Douglas, the couples say their vows and set off into married life - all while we watch the drama unfold on MAFS.
Of course, there’s plenty of chaos and drama that unfolds – but in amongst the dinner parties and honeymoons are a number of success stories.
So if you’re looking for your soulmate, why not give MAFS a go?
How to apply for MAFS UK?
If you fancy seeing yourself get hitched on TV, you can take part in the show by filling in the application form. However, your quest for love may take a 'lil bit longer than anticipated... Applications for this year's show are now closed, so set yourself a reminder to keep checking!
In the meantime, it doesn't hurt to do some research.
Channel 4 notes that they’re ‘only accepting applicants who are aged 18 and over and feel ready for marriage,’ so make sure you fulfil these requirements. Naturally, the casting directors will also want to know some things about you: your sexuality, your religion, your height, your ethnicity, and whether you’ve been on TV before or are applying for anything else. You’ll also have to upload a recent picture of yourself, as well as link your Instagram.
Once your basic info is all filled in, you’ll head into a section where you can talk a ‘lil bit more about yourself – convincing the crew that you’re 100% destined to have a seat at those infamous dinner parties. In past years, questions have included who you live with, what your hobbies are, how long you’ve been single for, and why you think you haven’t yet found ‘The One.’ Time to dig deep.
Then comes the video, where you’ll say even more about yourself and why you need expert help in finding the love of your life. Last year, the application made it clear that this video wasn’t required, however it would ‘hugely improve’ your chances of being considered for the programme.
And just like that, you’re done! Time to send it off and see if you’re a match.
What have past contestants said?
Plenty of former contestants have opened up about their experiences appearing in the MAFS universe, which comes in pretty handy when planning your own application.
Former contestant Amy Christophers previously told heat that when she appeared on the show in 2021, she was actually fast tracked. ‘I applied and the next day they phone me and they were like, “We love your application. We think you would be an ideal match for somebody we’ve already got.” So I was fast-tracked.
‘There was a really long questionnaire – I think it’s meant to take five hours, or even longer. You have to do a narcissist or empath test, and then there’s questions about your family, what you’re like as a person, and just everything about relationships. Near the end, you also have psychologists making sure that you’re of sound mind to do it, because it’s not for the weak.’
Thought the process was done? Think again.
‘You give them phone numbers of your exes,’ Amy said, ‘And they phone them to see what you’re like in a relationship – it’s all really intense.’
Amy also said she gave the casting team plenty of details on exactly what her dream husband would look like. ‘I don’t think I really gave them a chance to ask me questions,’ she said. ‘I sent them my list – the sort of character I want them to be, the sort of jobs I want them to have and ambitions. Then I went on Instagram and I was just looking at the hottest guys who I fancied on there, screenshotting them and sending that over. I was bombarding the casting team daily.’
One TikTik star, Julia, also opened up about the show’s application – revealing that she was contacted by MAFS Australia to apply. Sending in her application in February, the night before it closed, the entire process lasted several months – with the weddings filmed in September.
Wondering why you didn’t spot Julia on the show? She actually made it all the way to being cast in the 2024 MAFS Aus line up – but then she found love before the wedding was filmed, leading her to quit the show.
Revealing that she had to do a ‘full police check and citizenship test,’ Julia shared that she was also made to do ‘mobility’ checks while undergoing medical examinations. Of course, plenty of bedroom antics take place while on the show – so it also follows that Julia was required to get checks for ‘every single STI, including blood.’
And if you fancy some inspo, former contestant Thomas Kriaras has shared his own audition tape online. Warning fans that he ‘doesn’t recognise myself, it’s quite depressing,’ he goes on to say ‘I’m ready for something committed and long-term, MAFS UK provides me with that experience whilst providing me with the opportunity to show that I have healed and have the propensity to commit to someone after shying away from commitment for quite a long time.’
