It’s hard to remember a world in which Love Island 2022 winners Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti weren't ultimate couple goals, but the pair did, of course, date other people before getting together.
Last month, Made in Chelsea playboy Miles Nazaire revealed Ekin-Su slid into his DMs before she appeared on the ITV2 dating show, and now another celeb has come forward claiming he used to date the actress and reality star.
So, just who is Ekin’s famous former flame? Brace yourselves, it’s… Wayne Lineker.
We know. We’re shocked too.
Wayne made the revelation during a recent appearance on the Saving Grace podcast.
Speaking to host GK Barry, he explained, “I actually dated the winner of Love Island, Ekin-Su. Yeah, loads of times. She stayed with me at Seven Pines. I know, bizarre innit?"
Frankly, Wayne, bizarre doesn’t even cover it.
He continued, “Yeah, pre-Love Island. She’s lovely, we used to have such a laugh. Yeah [I was shocked when she went on Love Island]. I messaged her, I was like, ‘what the f**k?’ I know she’s doing well because she’s absolutely hilarious in real life. We just laugh and we’ve got so many funny stories.”
Just when we thought this story couldn’t get any more wild, Wayne went on to reveal that he first met Ekin in a popular chicken cafe.
“We met in Nando’s in Loughton. She walked in, I was like, ‘f**k, she’s fit!’ I actually airdropped her my number and I went, ‘text me’. I was the only one in there,” he said.
“Then she walked out of Nando’s. She walked down the road, because she lives in Buckhurst Hill, I could still see her. I went, ‘hi, what are you doing?’ Yeah, I pulled her in Nando’s.”
Honestly, Wayne and Ekin-Su are the oddest celeb pairing since, well, Wayne and Chloe Ferry.
