We can always rely on a scorned dumped Love Island star to spill some major tea for the good of the fans in the wake of some serious drama, especially if said Islander is a scorned dumped Casa Amor bombshell.
The poster child for such iconic behaviour this season is - without a shadow of a doubt – Layla Al-Momani, who famously hit it off with Will Young on the first night in Casa and came to the aid of each and everyone of her Casa girls come the brutal recoupling.
Speaking of the Love Island staple, if you thought that particular post-Casa-Amor recoupling was a stretched out, brutal, anxiety-inducing, 15 minute watch – you don't know the half of it.
In fact, while filming the latest edition of heat Dates with fellow Casa bombshell Cynthia Otseh-Taiwo (of straddling Casey O'Gorman on the terrace fame), Layla exclusively revealed just how brutal that recouping really was - particularly for the Casa girls and seemingly show host Maya Jama.
Towards the end of our exclusive chit chat with the girls, host Harriet Rose asked, "You know that bit when you’re filming the recoupling… does it last for like 12 hours? Were your feet just dead?"
To which Layla responded, "Six [hours]. I think it was six."
Cynthia added, "I couldn’t actually physically… my feet went numb.
Layla went on to reveal that the sheer length of time she had to spend on her feet to film those scenes fuelled her frustration on the night. Fans will remember that Layla leapt to the defence of many of the Casa girls during the recoupling, as well as calling out some of the boys for their 'mad sh-t'.
She said, "We stood in silence; the adrenaline is running, and when people are saying mad sh-t it just comes out. You’re stood there in silence, so you’re like ‘finally I can talk.'"
Cynthia added, "But also, they don’t know what you know; you’re like, ‘I was there’. I know things were a bit deeper than what was going down."
Layla continued, "It’s like, ‘It wasn’t that deep, it wasn’t that deep.'"
To which Cynthia responded downright iconically, "I’ll show you how deep it’s going to be when you come out for that reunion."
Shade thrown.
So there you have it. Not only is the Casa recoupling emotional turmoil for everyone involved (year after year AFTER YEAR), but if you're a Casa girl in heels, it's six hours of all-round pain. We dropped Maya Jama's name earlier, as it's not like Maya is spread out on a sofa with a cocktail for these scenes; she's right there, side-by-side with the Casa girls in a pair of painfully fabulous heels. Solidarity.
Oh, and add that chilly, windy evening weather to the mix and it just sounds all round vile. We kind of get why Islanders are paid for this 'free holiday' now.
