Love Island’s Martin Akinola had a pretty rough ride in the villa after coupling up with Tanya Manhenga.
They enjoyed a flirtationship (and a cheeky snog) in Casa Amor despite Tanya being coupled up with Shaq Muhammad, but things all changed when they returned to the main villa and she quickly decided that she’d rather be with Shaq after all.
But things are looking up for Martin on the outside world as he’s revealed he’s “coupled up” with ANOTHER Islander. Well, kinda…
Now that all of the Islanders are back in the UK, Martin’s been hanging out with his Casa bestie Maxwell Samuda and they recently attended an event together where Martin revealed they’d recoupled.
“And the boy I’d like to couple up with is @maxwells_16,” he captioned a photo of the two of them.
Erm, we think Olivia Hawkins would have something to say about that.
We couldn’t help but feel a sense of déjà vu when we first clapped eyes upon Martin. In fact, he bears an uncanny resemblance to 2022 Islander Dami Hope – right down to the nose ring.
We’re not the only ones to think so either, as fans flocked to social media to point out that Martin is basically the complete double of Dami.
“Martin looks just like Dami,” wrote one, while another added, “Martin is Dami’s stunt double. Loooool I’m screaming 😂😂😂.”
A third remarked, “Martin looking like Dami and sounding like him even…”
One more tweeted, “Martin from Dublin? Nahhh they really tryna find another Dami.”
Not only does Martin remind viewers of Dami, but it turns out the pair are actually friends and go way back.
Martin sadly didn't follow in Dami's footsteps by making it all the way to the final, so it seems the words of wisdom from his friend didn't help him out.
Before entering Casa Amor, Martin revealed, “[Dami] said, 'Do your thing, be yourself and everyone else will get to know you, and get to see why we're friends.'
“He was saying, 'You tell the boys on a night out, “This is how to talk to a girl”, now go and show them how it's done.' I was like, I can do that!”
