These days she might be best known as the romantic lead in series one of Netflix’s smash hit period drama Bridgerton, but Phoebe Dynevor – daughter of Coronation Street’s Sally – got her first acting break as a fresh-faced teen in long-running BBC drama Waterloo Road.

After it was confirmed that Pheobe won't be a focal point in series two of Bridgerton (the second series will focus on her brother Antony Bridgerton's quest to find love), it was recently confirmed that Pheobe has been cast in another Netflix biopic Bank Of Dave, which is based on the successes of self-made millionare Dave Fishwick.

At only 26, Phoebe has achieved so much in her acting career already, but her road to success wasn't an easy one.

Phoebe Dynevor's childhood

Pheobe was born in 1995 in Manchester and her parents are soap legends Emmerdale screenwriter Tim Dynevor and Coronation Street's Sally Dynevor who is best known for playing Sally Webster on the cobbles.

She had a relatively normal upbringing and explored acting in school before pursuing work as a child actor whilst studying for her GCSEs and A Levels (she got an A and two Bs, FYI).

Growing up, Pheobe regulary visited her parents on set and it was there that she felt the acting bug. In an interview with Express in 2014, she said, "I loved that.

"I was always really interested in what was going on, watching the cameramen and stuff."

Way back in 2009, Phoebe was cast as well-heeled newbie Siobhan Mailey who initially looks down her nose at the school but throughout her twenty episodes ends up doing things she regrets to fit in with the cool girls.

Phoebe was cast as new girl Siobhan Mailey for series five, when she was just 14 years old. Throughout her time at the school, Siobhan got an underage tattoo, dumped her boyfriend Luke because her friends didn’t like him and incurred the wrath of her girl gang when she tried to distance herself from them.

Also appearing on the show alongside Phoebe at the time was Jenna Coleman as Linsday James, who’s also gone onto have an incredible career.

Aside from her time in Waterloo Road, Phoebe was cast in several British dramas, including The Musketeers, BBC's Prisoners' Wives she played gangster's daughter Lauren and she played Martha Cratchit in Dickensian.

Then, in 2016, it was announced she would be starring alongside Luke Pasqualino and Rupert Grint in Crackle crime comedy series Snatch, her American telly debut. In 2017, Phoebe joined the cast of comedy-drama series Younger in a recurring role of Clare.

I really appreciate all the ‘no’s’ that I’ve had in my life because I wouldn’t be sitting here today [without them].

Phoebe Dynevor's big Bridgerton break

Despite landing TV roles, Phoebe spent a few years trying to find a role that would possibly be the making of her. In an interview with Glamour UK ahead of Bridgerton's release, Phoebe revealed that she had been trying to find a role for ten years.

"For the last 10 years of my life, I’d been going up for every single part under the sun," she confessed.

"When you watch people’s success, you don’t see all the letdowns. But the rejection makes you tougher. I really appreciate all the ‘no’s’ that I’ve had in my life because I wouldn’t be sitting here today [without them]."

Phoebe starred as main character, Daphne Bridgerton, in Netflix’s Bridgerton where her character fell in love with Duke of Hastings Simon Basset - played by Rege-Jean Page - and her perfect portrayal spiralled her career.

However, she definitely put the work in, not only did Phoebe study language and history of Regency era London to prepare for the series, but she also learned how to ride a horse sidesaddle.

"There's a scene where Daphne has to jump on a horse and quite quickly get somewhere, and I really pushed for her to be riding astride as opposed to sidesaddle," she told Elle magazine.

While her co-star Regé-Jean Page won’t be making a return for Bridgerton series two, Daphne will feature but as a smaller role.

Explaining how Daphne will fit in, Phoebe told Entertainment Weekly, "Daphne has become the adult of the family.

"She's found what she's looking for — she's had a baby, she's a wife and mother. There's a real confidence and womanhood about her this season."

I really liked that it ended on a happy ending, but life isn't one happy ending. I'd like to see what other hurdles they have to jump over

Speaking to Glamour again, she also shared her excitement about getting back to filming, "I genuinely don't know anything, first off. It's all top secret.

"But I would like to see [Daphne] get more involved in her brother Anthony's love life. I think it's her time to get him back. And I'd like to explore a bit more of Daphne and Simon's relationship. I really liked that it ended on a happy ending, but life isn't one happy ending. I'd like to see what other hurdles they have to jump over."

In terms of other projects, it's been announced that Phoebe will have her feature film debut as Clarice Cliff in the period drama film The Colour Room, directed by Claire McCarthy for Sky Cinema.

Seems like period is her bag, right?

Phoebe Dynevor and Pete Davidson

Phoebe confirmed her relationship with American actor – and Ariana Grandés ex – Pete Davidson when they were papped on a reported Tesco run (CLASSIC) during a visit to the UK to meet her family in 2020.

The pair then cemented their relationship when they were papped kissing at Wimbledon in London.

They were photographed cozying up while taking in Roger Federer’s match from the Lanson suite at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

Pete even shared some of the snaps on his Instagram with the caption, "love huh", and there was even rumours that he was thinking about moving to the UK to be closer to her.

However, a source told heatworld that Phoebe's famous mum, Sally Webster actress Sally Dynevor, was less than pleased with their romance.

"Phoebe is already mortified about her family seeing her racy scenes on Bridgerton, and now she’s having to deal with the added embarrassment of her mum knowing all about her new relationship," the insider said.

"Any parent is curious about who their child is dating and, unfortunately for Phoebe, all Sally had to do is a quick Google search – which has obviously raised a few red flags, because of Pete’s colourful dating life. Sally’s slightly concerned about how fast he seems to move on to new partners."

However Phoebe and Pete have since split and he's now dating Kim Kardashian.
