Remember when Sam Thompson revealed that his Love Island spin-off show Aftersun co-host Maya Jama awkwardly doesn’t follow him on Instagram?

Well, things have been taken up a notch as Sam has spoken out again the presenter on the latest episode of his podcast with Pete Wicks, Staying Relevant, and he’s NOT happy.

Okay, we’re 99 per cent sure he’s being sarcastic, but his most recent comments have had us in stitches.

Pete and Sam were discussing the possibility of Maya, who co-host Aftersun with Sam and Indiyah Polack, appearing on their podcast when the former Made in Chelsea star said, “Maya and I aren’t at that point yet. She barely looks at me.”

But when Pete joked about headlines about their “feud” (been reading heat have you, hun?), Sam replied, “She is so lovely, but she’s so busy doing her stuff.”

Pete continued, “It sounds like she’s upset you. Maya, if you listen to this, which you don’t, I think you should apologise to Sam. You’ve evidently hurt him. You won’t even look at him, what a b***h!”

Sam then added, “No, don’t because she’ll be like, ‘You’ll so weird, Sam!’ and I’ll get fired because it won’t be her.

“I would like to say, none of that is true. She is the loveliest person and it’s an honour to watch her work. Don’t ruin this for me, Pete!”

Last month, Sam admitted Maya doesn't actually follow him on Instagram – despite weeks of working together – and yeah, AWKS is the word.

Naturally, Sam's best mate Pete is loving it. He said, "I saw a great article in the Daily Mail this week about Aftersun's ratings. Amazing. Ratings were great.

"They said thanks to Maya Jama. Your name wasn't even in the article; you or Indiyah. It was all, 'Maya Jama storms and makes Love Island history'. You didn't even get a mention.

"Even on Twitter and everything else, when you look at it, 'Maya and Indiyah: breath of fresh air'. It's almost like you're not there. I'll be honest with you mate, what are you doing?"

Savage. No, carnage.

Sam replied (and to be fair, he was taking it on the chin and giggling throughout), "It is tough, I'm going to be honest with you, because they know each other really well, I think."

He explained, "When the announcement came out [about Love Island], me and Indiyah were sat next to each other and she said, 'OMG, Maya's just commented on my photo'."

Pete interrupted with some serious tea, "Maya doesn't even follow you. You know that, don't you? You host a show together and she doesn't even follow you on Instagram."

Laughing, Sam responded, "I do know that."

When asked how he felt about that, Sam replied, "It's fine."

Pete continued his brutal tirade, adding, "Is it? It doesn't look fine. And what's made it worse is that now it's too far gone. Also now because we've mentioned it, if she does follow you, she's done it just because she feels awkward."

A hysterical Sam responded, "I don't think she will."

Sam explained, "So Indiyah turns around and says, 'Maya's commented! That's so nice of her' of the announcement and we have both done the exact same announcement. So I looked and I was like, 'This is great', so went to have a look at mine and look at my announcement - nothing. I was like, 'Well, okay. That's fine. I'm sure she follows me... nothing."

He continued, "And then, further down the line, she even tagged me in something... but still doesn't follow me. It's gone so far and we're so deep into it now that I don't think I can go up top her and be like, 'Would you mind? It would mean a lot if you could follow me'."

What we'd give to be in the same room as Maya when she hears this conversation. Saying that, from the sounds of things, she probably won't.
