For all the flack that Love Island receives nowadays for scouting could-be influencers and Instagram famous models, back in the day the contestants were just regular mortals.

None of this 'semi-pro footballer' or 'TikTok star', we had the likes of groundskeeper Jordan Ring in season one and executive assistant Chloe Crowhurst in season three.

We bet half the people who went on last year's Love Island don't even know what a groundskeeper is.

One of the most loved Love Island couples comes in the form of Cara de la Hoyde and Nathan Massey who took home the £50k and were crowned queen and king of the villa back in 2016.

The duo won season two of the show, beating Olivia Buckland and Alex Bowen who were declared runners ups and are also are still together, btw.

Cara and Nathan are now happily and married with two children, Delilah and Freddie.

Or so we thought.

Just kidding, they are still very much an item but Cara recently revealed that her and Nathan did in fact split for a hot sec when Cara was pregnant with baby number one and our hearts broke just a little when we heard the story.

Chatting on the MadebyMammas podcast Cara opened up about some issues her and her betrothed had back in the day.

"As soon as I found out I was pregnant we split up," she confessed, "Could not stand each other, hated each other, we were just together for work."

The TEA.

"In the press I would never slate him," Cara went on and we love the professionalism of it, "I would never let on that we didn't like each other. Whatever you put out there is there forever."

Nathan previously spoke about the turbulent relationship to pals Tommy Mallett and Georgia Kousoulou during an episode of TOWIE.

"It's completely over now. Sadly," he admitted back in 2017, "We were just under each other's feet too much."

Luckily, the couple managed to pull through the dramz and are still going strong.

We love to see it.
