Love Island came to an end last night (Monday 29 July) when Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan were crowned the winners ahead of runners-up Nicole Samuel and Ciaran Davies, but although it’s all peace and love for the finalists – at least we think it is now that Sean Stone and Joey Essex have dropped their beef with Mimii and Josh – the same can’t be said for all of this year’s Islanders.
It's fair to say that some Love Island 2024 relationships have blossomed more than others and one that just didn’t take off was Casa Amor bombshell Ellie Jackson’s fledgling romance with Trey Norman.
Ellie and Trey coupled up at the end of Casa Amor but things didn’t get off to the best start when they had a huge row the next day. Although they made up, the couple were dumped during the Love Island Film Festival and Ellie has now confirmed they’re no longer an item after he was spotted with another woman.
Trey took Ellie on a date in London when they returned to the outside world, but she admitted their relationship “just wasn’t working” once they left the villa.
“I mean, for one when we came out, the distance just was not ideal. I knew that we wouldn't sort of have enough time to see each other,” Ellie explained.
“And I think when we did, there just was a couple of red flags in the sense of like all the other couples, that very happily when we were out for dinner or at nightclubs. And Trey just kind of wouldn't sit next to me, or, you know, would be, you know, giving other girls a little bit of attention in the nightclubs as well.”
Ellie went on to accuse Trey of being “calculated” and having a “vendetta” when it came to their relationship as he wanted to stay in the spotlight and appear on the next series of All Stars.
She told The Sun, “I find it hard to fake a relationship and fake liking someone just for the sake of publicity and and stuff like that. If I want to find someone, I want it to be because I actually have a good connection with them and we get on.
“He just wants to be famous. He doesn't want to dwindle out of the spotlight. He literally wants to be famous and be on All Stars.
“That's why he wanted our relationship to kind of carry on because he wanted it to be a bigger thing, so it would be more of a scandal when he goes in All Stars. But I tell you what, I could not put up to that for another couple of months. I would have gone insane."
Since splitting from Ellie, Trey has been spotted on a date with Abbie Quinnen. The dancer and model previously dated Strictly pro AJ Pritchard and she was even rumoured to be lined up as a Love Island bombshell earlier this summer.
However, Abbie didn’t up walking into the villa and it’s reported that she and Trey are “texting non-stop”.
