Just yesterday (Monday 1 September), heatworld reported that Love Island 2023 finalist Lochan Nowacki was sueing his ex Whitney Adebayo for defamation following their bitter split earlier this year.
ICYMI, series 10's Whitney accused Lochan of making racist remarks during their relationship, specifically alleging he called her skin 'dirty,' which Lochan denies, claiming it was a bad joke without racist intent. The conflict escalated publicly on social media, and Lochan has now confirmed legal action against Whitney in the High Court, asserting that he had no alternative to protect his and his family's reputation.

After Lochan made his legal intentions clear earlier this week, Whitney spoke out on social media saying, 'Racial ignorance is at an all time high. You’re not a Black woman so you can never tell me how to feel when you make "these jokes". One year, two year, even ten years later, I will always be within my right to tell my story. Instead of recognising how these comments made me feel, especially now being outside of the love bubble, you still chose to disregard my story. Your actions have shown it was never love, it was about reputation and money. Charge it to the game.'
Less than 24 hours later, Lochan took to social media; this time, sharing lengthy videos on TikTok speaking out against Whitney's claims. The two-part video is edited together with clips of Whitney taken from various other social media posts, podcast interviews and screenshots.

In the videos Lochan stresses that Whitney's claims are 'sickening' and 'disrespectful' and calls his ex out for 'spinning the truth' and 'belittling him privately and publicly.' He also adds that he only posted these recent videos because his 'family got brought into this'.
Naturally, the ongoing ordeal – which has been nicknamed the 'Love Island Wagatha Christie' – is dividing fans of the former couple.
In the comments section of Lochan's recent TikToks (which have already racked up over 200K views), one follower wrote, 'I feel Lochan. All he wants is to continue his life without her. She’s clearly bitter,' while another added, 'This just made be believe Whitney even more. He’s cold and calculated.'

Whitney and Lochan were a popular couple on series ten of Love Island. They met in Casa Amor in the summer of 2023 and their relationship quickly became one of the strongest in the villa. They became official boyfriend and girlfriend on the show, and made it to the final, finishing as runners-up behind Jess Harding and Sammy Root.
Whitney and Lochan split in April 2025 after nearly two years together. Whitney described the breakup as 'right person, wrong time,' expressing heartbreak and feeling at a crossroads in life.
The main reasons given by Whitney include Lochan not wanting to compromise and feeling he wasn't willing to accept the changes she was making for their relationship. Whitney revealed that Lochan said he saw her changing into the woman they talked about but was unwilling to do the same himself. This left her feeling 'bamboozled' because she had tried to tame her emotions for him.
