Love Island is one of the most popular programmes on the telly box, so, naturally, it gets people talking. Viewers flock to social media to give their opinions on what’s going down in the villa every night, but it’s not just the fans having their say as past Islanders also can’t resist sharing their two pence.
Earlier this week, Lana Jenkins posted what she really thought about her ex Ron Hall entering the All Stars 2025 villa and another of his former flames, Lydia Karakyriakou, recently shared a shady TikTok about him too.
And now, Toby Aromolaran – who rose to fame on Love Island 2021 before appearing on the first series of All Stars last year – has spoken out on Marcel Somerville’s ‘unfair’ and ‘barbaric’ return to the villa eight years after he rose to fame on Love Island 2017.
Speaking on behalf of Genting Casino, Toby said, ‘I love Love Island and I love what they're doing yeah, but I think it’s crazy, barbaric, bombastic that Marcel is on the island. He's going through a divorce. What is going on?
‘You’re going through a divorce, and this isn’t to say someone shouldn't have love and should have the opportunity to find love, fair play him going back in, but with [his divorce] happening so recently and still going through the process of your last relationship, I think it's just a bit unfair for who he couples up with or who he gets with, because although they know what they're doing, I feel like in there, you have limited options and now you're further limiting them.’
Toby added, ‘I have never been through a divorce but I think it’s a bit unfair they’ll [as his partner] potentially have to go through that too.’
Ahead of his return to the villa, Marcel addressed criticism about entering the villa while still legally married and insisted he had a right to move on.
He said, ‘I don't feel like I should be scrutinised for moving on with my life because it's just something that people need to do. If I was to be like, “I'm getting a divorce, it's gonna take a year or two years for all of the paperwork to be done,” then that's putting my life on hold for two years to just sit around and be unhappy.’
The Blazin’ Squad star added, ‘Me and Rebecca aren't together and we both were both at a point where we're like, you know what? The marriage broke down, we need to move on with our lives.’
