We've started to notice that former Love Island couples are getting better and better at dodging questions about why exactly their villa romance came to an end on podcasts, while at the same time, giving listeners just enough to keep them biting at the bait. It's like the real-life version of sharing a spicy, passive aggressive meme share with zero context on your Instagram story.
Love Island 2023 legend Whitney Adebayo is the latest Islander to exhibit such mastermind behaviour during a podcast interview, and obv, we love her for it.

Whitney, of course, recently split from her Love Island lover Lochan Nowacki after almost two years together, and honestly, we don't think we'll ever get over this one (we're already manifesting a Callum x Molly style reunion on All Stars 2026 - but you know, one that works out). And while we don't know the break-up specifics (aside from the fact that it had absolutely nothing to do with Samie Elishi), Whitney has hinted that Lochan was the party who did the breaking, and honestly, how could he?
And now, Whitney has added another layer of intrigue by hinting at the real reason for the split (while still managing to keep the piping tea bubbling in the teapot - it's a skill).

Speaking on the latest episode of her What's It Giving? podcast, she revealed, 'Some people don't wanna compromise,' clearly hinting in Lochan's direction.
Whitney then recalled how her ex said, 'I've seen how much you've changed, and you're becoming like the woman that we always spoke about you becoming.'
And added (again, recalling what Lochan said), 'And I'm just not willing to do that.'
Whitney then explained how this revelation left her feeling 'bamboozled', going on to admit how she 'tamed her emotions for him'. Sorry, what?

Whitney said, 'I was bamboozled. This is the person that you told me you wanted.'
The iconic Islander then explained how she was referring to changing how she spoke to him, rather than changing completely herself for her ex (never change for anyone, Whit).
Whitney added, 'He actually did calm me down and help me tame my emotions.'
'He taught me silence.'
See what we mean? Everything and nothing all at once...
The former couple came in second place on season ten of the dating show in 2023, losing out to Jess Harding and Sammy Root. Despite battling split rumours back in August 2024, the couple seemed to be on good terms, however, in April 2025, they both confirmed they had split.

Whitney shared the news via an Instagram story with Lochan following suit. Shortly after, Whitney posted a TikTok titled, 'Chapter 4 - Choosing Me,' where she went into much more detail about their break up.
Declaring, 'April 4th felt like a cruel reminder of winter's chill, it was the day he chose to stop choosing us,' Whitney shared an update with her followers and fans about how she was feeling.
Lochan is yet to share any other info about their break up, other than the split statement which was similar to Whitney's.
