We're not going to lie we've learnt a lot from TikTok.

Whether it's learning how to give ourselves natural looking freckles, discovering an acne concealing hack or making our own tinted moisturiser at home - we're basically MUA's at this point.

However while scrolling on our FYP we've recently spotted a bunch of TikTok DIY skincare trends that we've been tempted to try.

After all, who doesn't love saving some cash? Skincare can be expensive AF.

Unfortunately there's a few (9, to be exact) skincare hacks that have gone viral but experts are warning that we shouldn't try them out at home.

So of course, we thought we'd share SpaSeekers advice because unlike influencers, we can't all get advice from Skincare By Hyram.

1. Slugging

So slugging is basically covering your face with Vaseline overnight to hydrate your skin. However SpaSeekers have said it could result in clogging your pores and locking in dirt and oil.

2. High frequency facial

Online facial kits are all the rage on TikTok, with people using them on their acne, wrinkles and pores. And although professionals use them, experts have warned people to not do it at home.

3. Sunscreen contouring

This DIY trend is when you apply sunscreen to the places on your face that you want to 'highlight' - so that while you're in the sun you'll get a natural contour. Err, your entire face need protecting, so this is an absolute no.

4. Erection cream pout

Yeah, this was an odd one. One TikTok user used erectile dysfunction cream to get fuller lips... This could result in an allergic reaction, blisters, swelling and it blood pressure problems. Instead, you can buy a lip plumping gloss and you're good to go.

5. DIY teeth whitening

The fifth hack that we should absolutely not be doing is whitening your teeth with undiluted hydrogen peroxide. Not only is it dangerous but it can also cause permanent damage.

6. Gorilla Glue hair

Even if you don't have TikTok we're pretty sure you heard about this girl who went viral after using industrial glue spray to set her hair. It took over a MONTH to get it out.

7. DIY coffee scrubs

Some people have been using actual coffee as a facial scrub... Although your skin might appear smoother at first it can cause microtears that can make your skin dry, red or leave you with flaky patches. Instead of coffee, why not try out the best exfoliating cleansers without microbeads?

8. DIY microneedling

Another trend that we shouldn't be doing at home is using microneedles. Not only can it cause hyperpigmentation and scarring but it also opens the skin up to infections. Save it for the professionals.

9. DIY eyebrow tint

Dying your eyebrows at home is pretty much a norm (especially during lockdown) but recently some TikTok users have been using beard dye to tint their brows. Turns out it's actually pretty dangerous because it can lead to blistering, rashes and if it gets in your eye it can result in blindness.
