TikTok slang

We've finally found out the reason behind all those cryptic those 'WOM' comments that are appearing all over TikTok, and the meaning is actually... surprisingly simple.

After absolutely racking our brains trying to figure out what WOM could possibly stand for, we reckon it could be one of the following: "work out motivation" (because who doesn't need a bit of that?), "word of mouth" (all about the gossip), or "walk over me" (an alternative to the TikTok coined compliment "step on me").

With a huge debate dividing the internet as to what these comments mean, we've found some possible solutions. Let's run through the most widely used TikTok abbreviations, acronyms and slang; juuust to refresh your memory...

1. What is the strawberry question on TikTok?

TikTok is THE place to be if you're one half of a smug couple and want to broadcast your relationship to the worldand the so called strawberry question is yet another trend to facilitate exactly that.

Here's the deal: a TikToker will ask their S/O (significant other, FYI) a series of questions, starting with, "If you were walking past a strawberry field, would you take a strawberry and eat it if you were really hungry?”

This is then followed up by asking "How many strawberries would you take?", and "If there was a fence, would you climb over it?"

The trend is supposed to be a "test" to see if their partner would cheat. Saying yes to picking a strawberry means, obviously, they'll inevitably be unfaithful. Picking more than one AND jumping a fence to get them? Well, you've got a serial cheater on your hands who'll take risks and overcome obstacles to get that extra-curricular nookie.

Best get out while you still can, hun.

2. What is the meaning of 'PFP' on TikTok?

The meaning of "PFP" on TikTok is usually in reference to a user's profile picture.

Does anyone remember when Charli D'Amelio finally changed up her profile picture and the comment section went wild?

3. What is the meaning of 'OOMF' on TikTok?

If you see the word "OOMF" on socials is just an abbreviation for "one of my followers." Not to be confused with "oomph", although you can't help but say it when you see it.

4. What is the meaning of 'FYP' on TikTok?

One that you will have DEFINITELY have seen during your time on TikTok. FYP is an abbreviation of the "For You Page" that appears on the app.

It's called this because the videos that appear on the "For You" page are the ones that are most tailored to your interests.

You might have also seen the hashtag #fyp floating around, which is basically just another way to get more reach on a TikTok vid. The more you know...

5. What is the meaning of 'XYZBCA' on TikTok?

This might be a phrase you've seen thrown around TikTok and it confused all of us for AGES. Is it an abbreviation? An acronym? A hidden meaning? Spoiler alert: no, it's none of the above.

The hashtag #xyzbca was made on TikTok to increase the chances of going viral. Does it mean anything, though? Nope, it's just a word that was totally made up. If you check out #xyzbca on TikTok, you'll see the hashtag is flooded with a bunch of random viral vids.

6. What is the meaning of 'DC' on TikTok?

A way for a user to give "dance credit" to another user's choreography when filming a dance video. It's pulling out all the moves but also acknowledging the "OP" aka the "original poster" of the content.

Ugh, we live for a new dance trend. Especially when it's former Dance Moms students, (@mackenzieziegler) and (@maddieziegler). Killin' it.

7. What is the meaning of 'IB' on TikTok?

Quite simply, "IB" is an acronym for "inspired by". It's used to give credit to the original creator of a trend, look or fit, especially when creating a similar piece of content.

8. What is the meaning of 'WOM' on TikTok?

Ok, so after some extensive research we've finally found the origin of WOM. All thanks to Ava, a 17-year-old YouTuber who makes Minecraft gaming content, the word began appearing all over TikTok comments everywhere. So, what does it mean?

There was a LOT of speculation from the fanbase of @[AvaJC](https://www.tiktok.com/@_avajc)_ about what WOM could actually stand for, with some fans thinking it was a reference to her favourite game Minecraft.

Users commented that the phrase could stand for "world of Minecraft", "women of Minecraft" or "we own Minecraft" to name a few, but the real meaning behind the word has only recently been confirmed by the creator herself.

While the meaning of WOM is still shrouded with mystery (oh, the drama), Ava herself has promised that as soon as she hits 100k subscribers on Youtube and 200k subscribers on Twitch she'll reveal the answer.

In fact, only recently Ava and her fanbase attempted to break a world record by topping the most comments on a TikTok video.

To beat it, Ava and her fans started a comment chain which consists entirely of WOM. Currently the world record stands at 4.7 million comments.

So, there you have it. The meaning of the word WOM, is quite simply... WOM. TikTok never does stop surprising us.

9. What is the meaning of 'KMT' on TikTok?

"KMT" usually stands for "kiss my teeth" and is often used when someone is annoyed or angry. It's also the name of a song by Drake and UK rapper Giggs, which was released on the Canadian megastar's album More Life in 2017.

10. What is the meaning of "Mid" on TikTok?

Basically, "mid" is an abbreviation of "mid-tier" or "mediocre". It's usually used to refer to something that wasn't great but wasn't terrible either. The word has been used a lot on TikTok recently, so much so that the hashtag now has over 633million views. Now, that's certainly not mid.

11. What is the meaning of "CEO" on TikTok?

Whilst in the "real world" (yuck) "CEO" stands for chief executive officer, in the world of TikTok "CEO" has come to mean just being the best at something. You could be the CEO of eating cheese, or the CEO of skydiving... honestly the possibilities are endless so there's not much point listing any more. The beauty of these fictional positions is that they could never exist in the "real world", but if there was a job going for CEO of eating cheese we'd definitely be applying.

12. What is the meaning of "POV" on TikTok?

"POV" stands for "Point Of View" and refers to a trend in which the video shows the viewer’s point of view of a certain situation, for example "POV: You've just found out what POV means".

13. What is the meaning of "Go Little Rockstar" on TikTok?

"Go Little Rockstar" originated from the viral song "Pope is a Rockstar" by American Indie band, SALES. The song has a line "Pope is a Rockstar" that commonly gets misheard as "Go Little Rockstar". The meaning of the phrase is unfixed. For the most part it used to lift people up as a phrase of support or celebrate an achievement (aww how wholesome) and WE ARE HERE FOR this positivity on the platform.
