With the Big Brother 2024 cast being the talk of the town right now, it's all too easy to forget about the icons that came before them – the housemates of Big Brother 2023.
Yes, the 2024 series was a dramatic AF one, but 2023 will always remain with us thanks to the painful, lingering love triangle that was Matty Simpson x Jordan Sangha x Henry Southan. Like with Nathan King and Rosie Williams (a relationship Jordan had some THOUGHTS on), we didn't see this relationship coming, but we're grateful we were there for the whole ride because WHAT A RIDE IT WAS.
The throuple equivalent of riding Colossus at Thorpe Park backwards after a roast dinner – thrilling, but inevitably a little messy.
In case your memory needs a gentle jog, Matty and Jordan had an unconventional, flirty friendship in the house, one that would frequently cross boundaries and result in deep and meaningful chats between the pair.
While Matty made it clear that they were just friends, Jordan was very clearly drawn to him, that is until he did a full 360 and snogged Henry in the jacuzzi in front of the nation. Jordan and Henry, of course, got together, lived happily ever after and even launched a podcast (that last part's new).
While they're together and stronger than ever in 2024, the boys still call Matty the early 'third' in their relationship, and naturally, when Jordan and Henry popped into heat HQ to promote their new podcast, we simply had to ask Jordan whether he still speaks to Matty a year on – in front of Henry. Are we the drama?
Jordan replied, 'Do I still speak to Matty? Well, yeah, he was the third, wasn't he?'
To which Henry confirmed, 'We met him at Brighton Pride'.
Jordan continued, 'Henry was very insistent that we did, and it was nice to see him, wasn't it? After the final [Big Brother] show, we spoke to him, didn't we?
Henry then burst into laughter, turned to Jordan and said, 'You're making this so weird.'
No, Henry, we think we made it awkward by even asking this...
Jordan then turned to face us, and said, 'I think Matty's going back to being a doctor. So, yeah, good luck to you.'
We've asked a fair few celebrities some awkward questions over the years, but that answer takes the awkward cake. Oh well, at least the boys can laugh at it now.
Just to clarify, we adore these two, and if they're new podcast is anything like our recent interview with them, then we have a new obsession.
Since being evicted from Big Brother (via a brutal af fake letter from home) last year, Matty has taken a side step away from the spotlight, opting to go travelling with then hunky boyfriend, Connor, instead, as well as returning to his job as a doctor.
Club Sandwich podcast is available to listen to from Wednesday 20 Nov on all podcast platforms.
