We have to admit we do feel a little bit sorry for the Love Island lot. Although it’s what they sign up for, having your relationships scrutinised by millions of viewers every night – and long after you leave the villa – can’t be easy.
Just ask Love Island 2024 winners Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan. In the villa, the pair faced claims that Mimii was still hung up on her ex Ayo Odukoya and now that they’ve proved the doubters wrong and won the show, a lot of fans are counting down the moments until Josh officially makes Mimii his girlfriend.
However, after speaking to the loved-up pair when they paid us a visit at heat Towers last week, it seems that Josh isn’t giving into the pressure and is waiting for the right moment to make Mimii his girlfriend.
“I feel like everyone should just take it as how they would behave in a normal situation. We are still normal. Obviously, the situation is a bit more intense and it’s going very good,” he told us.
“I’m not saying that’s not going to happen, but I don’t know. I haven’t got a date, when it’s right it will happen and everyone will see.”
It seems that it’s not just Love Island fans who are keen to know when he’s going to make things with Mimii official either as he added, “My mum called me like two days ago and was like, “Do you want to marry?”
While appearing on this year’s Love Island worked out for Josh as he sparked a connection with Mimii and went on to win the show, it turns things could have been very different as he was actually approached by producers for Love Island 2019.
Josh explained that while a lot of people think he got scouted for the show as he’s friends with former Islanders Jordan Odofin and Martin Akinola, producers actually contacted him before he even knew them.
He said, “Actually people think that I went through them, but I was asked to do the show before I actually knew any other Islanders in 2019, so the year Amber Rose [Gill] won.
“I was asked to go on that year and I didn’t. They literally just DMed me.”
Well, it all worked out for you in the end, eh Josh?
