When it comes to the cast of Married At First Sight, the minute the show is over they are spilling tea all over the shop.

From Laura Jayne Vaughan chatting about the most jarring BTS moments to Tasha Jay dropping in the word 'illegal' when talking about the notorious dinner parties, the MAFS UK bunch can't keep a secret to save their life.

The latest MAFS UK 2023 cast member to chat about their not-so-successful stint on the social experiment slash reality TV show is Georges Berthonneau.

During his time on the show, he was coupled up with Peggy Rose, but they are very much no longer an item - after rather public and scathing split, by the way.

But with a new season of Married At First Sight UK in full swing, it's the perfect time for previous contestants to lift the lid on their own experiences and, more importantly, dish all the deets on dirt we never knew, like how producers keep the brides and groom in check when drinking alcohol.

'They used to have a tally chart,' Georges explained as he opened up to The Sun, 'so we'd have our pictures, you know the cast sheet, and everyone would have a line by their name and as one person gets a little bit too drunk, they start to decrease the alcohol on the table.'

A tally chart with names on? It's giving high school, we wonder if the well behaved brides and grooms were given gold stars.

'So they do regulate it, like fair play to them,' he went on, before adding that all that bubbly we see them sipping isn't the fancy champagne stuff - and clearly Georges was devastated by this.

'They're labeling it champagne, and it's prosecco,' he revealed, 'it's all a facade. It's all smoke and mirrors. There's no truth to it.'

That certainly took a turn, the term 'smoke and mirrors' always feels rather sinister, but we love Georges for using it when calling out Channel 4 producers for plying them with the wrong kind of fizzy alcohol.
