Another day, another Love Islander sunning it up on a luxury holiday abroad while many of us back home have just been plunged into Tier 4 restrictions, meaning we may have to spend Christmas alone, isolated from friends and family.

This time it’s the turn of 2019 winner Amber Gill, who’s joined the hordes of reality TV stars in Dubai.

Amber, who hails from Newcastle which is currently in Tier 3, restricting all but essential travel, defended her trip and explained she was on the holiday “for work”.

“Just want to put it out there that I had no idea Tier 4 was a thing,” she wrote across a picture of a sun-soaked terrace where she was enjoying a morning cuppa.

“The flight here was booked way before. I thought the only changed being made on the 16th meaning I was still allowed to travel to work.”

Millie Court and Liam Reardon: TOGETHER

Liam asked Millie to be his official girlfriend during the final of the 2021 series, just moments before they were crowned the series seven winners. After meeting each other's family, Millie and Liam moved in together in Essex in November 2021 and despite a few split rumours, they are still going strong.

She went on to lament that she might be stuck at the resort over Christmas, adding, “I have no idea what I’m doing, I was only supposed to be here for four days Now I don’t know where I’m supposed to go or if I should stay here it’s all mad.

“I like to laugh my way through because if you don’t laugh you’ll cry. I’ve never not been in Newcastle with my family for Christmas.”

Amber’s villa-mate Molly-Mae Hague, who placed runner up alongside boyfriend Tommy Fury on the same series, was also forced to defend herself after fans said they found her Maldives holiday snaps “offensive”.

"Please understand that Tommy and I left the UK from Cheshire which was in Tier 2 at the time,” she said.

"If we knew these rules were going to be put in place then obviously we would have never left the UK.

"The minute we arrive home we will be following government guidelines."
