Interviewing freshly plucked and dumped Love Island stars is genuinely one of the best parts of this job; aside from pastries in the office on the occasional Friday morning, free mags galore, and the likelihood that you might bump into Ronan Keating or Olivia Attwood at the coffee machine. It's up there.
There's a few reasons for this; one, the dumping is fresh in our Islanders' minds and feels, so there's a high chance they're feeling extra salty, two, they're not really media trained yet, which means we're like to get some honest, juicy tea, and three, 99.9 per cent of the time, they're absolute gems IRL.
We had a feeling that when Love Island 2024's Patsy Field and Munveer Jabbal were booked to swing by heat HQ that the above would apply, and boy did it.
The goss was spicy, prickly, telling, and just a little bit reem.
Speaking of which, we OBV had to ask the recently-dumped Islanders what they thought about Mr Joey Essex sauntering into the villa as the show's first bombshell, and on top of that, whether they thought the reality star would make it to the final.
Munveer kicked things off, by not only spilling tea but unleashing a full-blown conspiracy theory at us, by asking, "Is it a coincidence that his 34th birthday falls on the final?"
We think so, Munveer, but we like where your head's at. Very heat.
Patsy then added salty salt to the wound, by adding, "Before all this stuff happened (she's referring to Joey having his head turned by Grace Jackson, btw) and Samantha [Kenny] was dumped, I thought he had a chance of being in the final, but I think it's really shocking that she's gone and I don't think she deserved that, so I don't think they'll make it anywhere near the final now.
"I don't know if they'll walk or they'll get dumped, but I don't think they're going to get the public's vote."
Clearly not Patsy's vote, anyway. Phwoar.
Munveer then diplomatically added, "But things change so quickly in there. There's a lot of time between now and then."
Fair point. Remember Sam Taylor? See, you've forgotten already (we didn't, Sam, don't worry).
Re Samantha, if it helps, Pats, we predicted Molly Marsh would return for Love Island 2023's Casa Amor long following her shocking dumping way before it was announced, and we were spot on. In fact, do you want to hear our theory for this year? Well *clutches coffee cup with two hands*, we reckon producers are going to mix up the boys and girls for this year's Casa Amor and the Casa bombshells will be exclusively Islanders who have been dumped from the series so far.
Feel free to steal that idea, ITV, we know it's iconic.
Patsy and Munveer, if you're in on this already, we'll be having serious words.
While at heat HQ Patsy and Munveer also revealed which of their fellow Islanders was not showing their ‘real’ personality and revealed what Ronnie Vint is REALLY like.
