When Love Island announced that we would be getting an All Stars series, here at heat we went practically feral with excitement.
Not only has it exceeded our expectations, Love Island: All Stars has morphed into an Ex on the Beach spin-off, and we aren’t complaining. Liberty Poole, Jake Cornish, Callum Jones and Molly Smith are just a few of the exes who have been reunited so far on the show, and now another ex has made an appearance.
Tyler Cruickshank, Kaz Kamwi’s ex-boyfriend, is the latest bombshell to slo-mo walk into the villa.
So, who is Tyler, and what has he been up to since his stint on Love Island 2021?
Who is Tyler Cruickshank?
Tyler is an estate agent turned TV personality, who rose to fame on Love Island in 2021. Two years later, he revealed that he was also studying law with hopes to one day open up his own practice.
How old is Tyler Cruickshank?
Tyler was born on 12 May 1995, making him 28 years old and a Taurus.
When was Tyler Cruickshank on Love Island?
Tyler was on the seventh series of the revived Love Island back in 2021.
What happened to Tyler Cruickshank on Love Island?
Tyler entered the Love Island villa on day 23 of his series and soon coupled up with Kaz. However, the Casa Amor curse struck and tore them apart when Tyler chose to couple up with Clarisse Juliette.
Kaz and Tyler couldn’t keep away from each other once they were back in the same villa and they recoupled just a few days before the final, where they finished in fourth place.
What happened with Tyler Cruickshank and Kaz Kamwi?
Tyler and Kaz split up three months after leaving the villa. While at the time they said they grew apart due to their struggle adjusting to life in the public eye, Kaz seemed less than thrilled when Tyler appeared on Love Island All Stars.
What does Tyler Cruickshank do now?
Tyler returned to studying law in 2023, and according to his LinkedIn he is now a law graduate and full-time content creator.
After Love Island, Tyler also became an ambassador for the charity SOS Silence of Suicide.
In 2021, the year Tyler entered the villa, the show tightened the way it handles aftercare for the mental wellbeing of contestants, which included training for all Islanders on the impacts of social media and handling potential negativity and comprehensive psychological support both during and after the show.
Tyler joined the charity in an effort to keep the subject of mental health on everyone's lips - especially young people's.
Speaking on the Mental Health Monday Podcast, Tyler spoke about how the death of Mike Thalassitis in 2019 affected him, even though he never knew him.
"I remember my friend telling me and I was taken aback by it. He had everything going for him but you just don't know.
"People think Love Island is all glitz and glam but there is a darker side to it," the reality star admitted.
"Love Island's demographic is clearly younger people and when that's happening and younger people are seeing it, it's going to have an effect on their lives."
Tyler also touched on the aftercare that he received from ITV, revealing that they were "incredible at looking after you" and that it was "second to none".
It wasn't just his time on Love Island that spurred him to work for a mental health charity. Before he entered the villa, Tyler lost a close friend to suicide and he experienced feelings of guilt.
"A couple of years back, last year, one of my close friends committed suicide himself through mental health problems and I felt like I could have done a little bit more to help him through that. It's quite difficult to put yourself in someone else's shoes.
"There's no manual for [dealing with it], we're not equipped, it's such a huge thing and it delves so deep into people's emotions and feelings - you're taken aback by it. It's a big taboo and it was difficult to know how to help him deal with that."
