It's never an easy pill to swallow learning that a long-standing Love Island couple has called it quits after year or two (or more) together, especially when you're talking about Love Island 2023 finalists Whitney Adebayo and Lochan Nowacki, AKA OUR ACTUAL HEARTS 💔💔.
They were the heart and soul of that series and when we metaphorically saw them galloping off into the sunset together after the final, we thought they'd keep galloping forever.
Alas, it wasn't meant to be, and honestly, we are not okay; especially now fans might've detected a twist at the end of this fairytale.
ICYMI, a few days ago, Whitney and Lochan put out similar statements on their socials announcing their break-up. The statement read, 'Hey guys, unfortunately [our] relationship has come to an end.
'Thank you for all the love and support that you've show us through our journey, we're forever grateful.'
Whitney, however, added, 'I am broken,' to hers, which honestly took us out.
As painful as it is to read, it does, however, suggest that perhaps Lochan might've been the one that did the breaking here. And before anyone comes for us, we're just speculating – as countless Love Island fans did when Lochan released an episode of his Loch'd In cooking series with All Stars' Samie Elishi just before his split was confirmed. Oop.
It's giving more to the story - at least as far as eagled-eyed Love Island fans are concerned.
A quick glance at the comments and you'll get the vibe; viewers are picking up on VIBES between Lochan and Samie in the 40-minute show.
One viewer commented, 'Loved this episode! You two have great chemistry,' with another adding, 'Lochan likes her,' while a third added, 'So the Next day u broke up with Whitney.....Hmmm.'
But before anyone sends a troll army Samie's way, please note that the winter Love Island star has spoken out on the rumours that her and Lochan's alleged 'flirting' might have had something to do with the split and she's labelled the gossip as 'rubbish.'
Taking to her Snapchat, she wrote, 'Absolute rubbish. Literally going to dinner with my girl Whit tomorrow. Don't believe everything you read people.'
Can we all agree that Samie and Whitney going for dinner THIS WEEK literally squashes those third-party rumours? Good.
And while we don't know the ins and out of Whitney and Lochan's relationship breakdown, Whitney did add a little more context a few days after the split announcement, taking to social media to say, 'Strange how you can wake up one day and decide that everything you once loved wasn't enough anymore. Hey my name is Whitney, and today I decided to become her.
'This year, April 4th was the day he stopped choosing us, the day he chose to stop choosing me. And just like that I found myself alone.'
The former couple came in second place on season ten of the dating show, losing out to Jess Harding and Sammy Root (who split just weeks after winning). Despite battling split rumours back in August 2024, the couple seemed to be on good terms, however, just a few days ago those rumours turned into a reality.
