They looked like they had stepped right out of a noughties teen rom-com - we're talking Save the Last Dance, 10 Things I Hate About You, Bring It On - but the romance between Love Island's Ella Thomas and Tyrique Hyde failed to have its own fairytale ending.
The former couple had a tumultuous time during their stint in the villa; they ended up coming in third place on season nine of the dating show but officially split at the start of 2024.
In recent weeks, both Ella and Tyrique have been linked to new romantic partners. Admittedly, Ty denied claims he was dating Nellie Charles, but the same can't be said for Ella who is apparently seeing footballer, Lloyd Jones.
Ty has now opened up on his relationship with Ella and touched on where things are between the former Islanders.
'Ella’s a lovely person,' he revealed during a chat with The Mirror, 'there’s no bad blood.'
He added, 'She taught me a lot about myself and relationships, especially when it comes to emotional intelligence.'
'I’ll always be grateful to her for that,' he went on, 'coming out of Love Island is mad – your whole life changes overnight, and it’s a lot to take in.'
Ella and Tyrique aren't the only couple from their season to have split. WinnersSammy Root and Jess Harding were basically strangers a few weeks after they banked the £50k with runners up Whitney Adebayo and Lochan Nowacki announcing just last week they were no longer together.
'We both struggled to adjust to that new world and figure out who we were outside the villa,' the footballer confessed.
'As much as we cared about each other, the timing just wasn’t right.
'We gave it a proper go and we’re still cool now, which I think says a lot.'
