While the latest series of Married At First Sight UK ended tragically (all of the couples have split, including Lacey and Nathan), we still had high hopes for the 2023 series, but we were wrong.
We should have known really; hardly any reality TV couples work IRL, including (apparently) the longest running 2023 MAFS duo, Paul Liba and Tasha Jay.
The couple split last month (November 2024) with Tasha sharing the news on social media, 'It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing Paul and I have decided to part ways. There isn't any major reason, we have just come to terms with the fact that we are not right for each other.'
Fast forward to December and Paul has revealed the real reason behind their break up and we totally get it.
'My issue was figuring out if Tasha was the right person to move up North for. I'd say if we lived in London it might be easier, but to sacrifice my life and drop everything for her is a big move and I just wasn't sure about it,' he admitted to The Daily Mail, 'and that was the issue.'
'Tasha is extremely close with her family. She has all her nephews and nieces, which she loves. I had my family and my friends, and I'm always busy with boxing,' he went on, 'I think if there was a middle ground, but we just couldn't figure it out, which was kind of sad.'
Now that Paul and Tasha have split there's only one couple remaining from series seven - Matt Pilmoor and Shona Manderson, and they weren't even coupled up by the experts.
Meanwhile, Shona and Brad Skelly's marriage went from zero to 100 real quick and after the experts got involved, they were asked to leave the experiment.
Outside the show, Shona and Matt met up, started dating and the rest is history.
