Love Island All Stars feels like a lifetime ago, doesn't it? Can you believe this time last year we were all speculating over whether it would even happen? And whether there was a difference between All Stars and Love Island Games.
Luckily for Love Island fans, All Stars did materialise (and the less said about the Games the better) and bringing that many Islanders and exes together was always going to create some iconic television, but this really was ICONIC television. Capitalised AND italicised for dramatic effect...
And even a month after the finale the drama is still drama-ing; just this week, Georgia Steel revealed that Toby Aromolaran had blindsided her by ending things out of the blue (GAG) and Wes Nelson broke his silence on THAT epic Arabella Chi reunion on All Stars exclusively to heat almost four years after their split – and, yeah, by the sounds of things, it was as awkward as it looked.
Allow us to refresh your memories...
Love Island 2018's Wes and his bestie Craig David surprised the All Stars with a performance of their single, Abracadabra – which almost broke Anton Danyluk, bless him. As magical as their performance was ('cause Abracadabra), we were pretty much transfixed on Wes's ex, Arabella, who had no clue that her ex was coming in for a sing-song. AWKS.
Arabella was clearly a bit taken back by seeing her Love Island ex again, but we've always wondered how that cool cucumber Wes felt about their very public reunion – so we asked him over a natter on Zoom.
During a chat about his new partnership with Lynx about the Lynx Fine Fragrance Collection (which smells as sexy as it sounds) we asked Wes whether he got a chance to talk to Arabella while in the villa and, erm, he didn't. Oop.
He exclusively told heatworld, "It was fine, you know. I was honestly focused on standing my ground next to Craig David. I was performing with arguably one of the best R&B male vocalists ever. I was more focused on making sure I looked good next to Craig."
No doubt Anton feels exactly the same, Wes.
Re his ex, he continued, "But no, it wasn't awkward at all. There's no bad blood there."
But for the record, you didn't actually speak on All Stars?
Wes confirmed, "No, we did not. We didn't. We actually didn't get to have a chat at all."
The singer went on to suggest that there had been a conversation with Love Island producers about him maybe staying in the villa as a bombshell after his performance, but sadly, it just wasn't meant to be.
Oh, and for the record, we asked if he'd do All Stars next year and he ruled it out. Sigh.
Believe it or not, it's been five years since he popped up on our TV screens and broke the heart of Laura Anderson when bombshell Megan Barton-Hanson came in and caught his eye. Wes and Megan ended up coming in fourth place on the romance reality show and even kept the relationship going outside of the villa.
Since his Love Island days, he has appeared on countless other TV shows including Dancing on Ice, The X Factor: Celebrity, Celebrity SAS and is now a bona fide music star and businessman.
Oh, and he smells sexy, too. He told us.
