While Married at First Sight has had a few success stories – see Cam Merchant and Jules Robinson from series six of MAFS Australia for reference - it is perhaps better known for the failed relationships.

The latest season of MAFS UK had plenty, with Thomas Kriaras and Rozz Darlington having an emotional on-screen break-up, and Erica Roberts and Jordan Gayle calling it quits in February 2024, just eight months after the experiment ended.

One couple that had their fair share of ups and downs on the show was Peggy Rose and Georges Berthonneau. Despite Georges coming under fire for some of his comments, and Peggy’s mother not taking a liking to him, they ended the experiment as a couple and even appeared on the reunion episode together.

However, it wasn’t meant to be, and on Valentine’s Day 2024 Peggy and Georges announced that they had split.

Since the break-up, the pair have been very outspoken about their relationship, and Georges in particular is not holding back - not that we expected he would.

When we sat down with Georges to discuss all things MAFS he spilled so much tea we could hardly keep up. It turns out, according to Georges, everyone and their mum warned him about Peggy from the very beginning.

“Basically, a large percentage of the boys were like, ‘She’s not for you, it doesn’t work.’ And then the camera ops, I’m not going to name names for the producers and stuff, but they were like, ‘Don’t be her stepping stone.’”

He then went on to admit that he did feel like she used him for fame.

“The Peggy I thought I saw was very much in it for love… but I think the reality of it all is that I saw a different side to her that every else saw, but I only saw the side I saw because I liked her.”

“I’m not going to call it toxic because it may or may not have been toxic, but it was an unhealthy relationship, and I didn’t see that until I left the relationship. Now I’m out of it, it’s very much like, ‘Yeah, I think I was a stepping stone.’”

Savage.
