It’s hard to believe that it’s been 13 years since Made in Chelsea debuted on our TV screens and propelled Spencer Matthews, Jamie Laing and Binky Felstead into the spotlight.
We’ve been obsessed with the SW3 socialites ever since, although the show looks very different these days. Most of the OG cast members are long gone – although Ollie Locke is returning for series 28 – with the likes of Miles Nazaire, Tristan Phipps and Jazz Saunders all taking centre stage in the drama in recent series.
However, three classic MIC cast members; Binky, Lucy Watson and Rosie Fortescue, are all returning to reality TV for the first time in years on Beyond Chelsea, a spin-off series following their now very different lives as mums and business owners.
Ahead of the premiere of Beyond Chelsea, Binky has revealed why she hasn’t watched Made in Chelsea since she left the show back in 2018.
Admitting the show just isn’t ‘relatable’ anymore, Binky explained, ‘I actually don't watch it and I haven't watched it since I left. I don't really know why, but I've just felt like it was weird watching it for such a long time and now I just can't really relate to anything that's going on in it, so I just haven't really found myself ever switching it on.
‘It's always quite fun watching the memes coming up on Instagram, but I can't relate to it and I feel like we did all that back in the day and I don't know anyone on it, so for me, I just haven't really switched on for a while. Not that I'm against it.’
Lucy and Rosie also admitted that they no longer watch Made in Chelsea either, although Lucy revealed that her sister Tiffany Watson keeps her updated on all the gossip.
As for how Beyond Chelsea will be different from the original show, Rosie said, ‘The show was shot very differently and it’s not set up scenes like Made in Chelsea was.
‘It wasn’t all about the drama this time, it was just a good insight into our lives. And why not set some records straight as well?’
Lucy added, ‘It's been eight years since I was on TV and I actually did miss it. I'm not ashamed to say that I did miss being a part of a show and, in terms of timing, it kind of felt like it was now or never.’
Beyond Chelsea starts on Tuesday 29 October at 10pm on E4 or stream on Channel 4.
