Love Island 2023 has provided us with many iconic moments already, mostly from Will Young might we add, but one thing that seems to be missing is an untouchable female friendship.

The lads in the villa wouldn’t get away with half the chaos they’ve caused if it was Love Island 2019 and Anna Vakili and Amber Gill were running the show, that’s for sure.

Chatting exclusively on heat dates, dumped Islander Zara Lackenby-Brown opened up about all things Love Island and when asked, “Are the girls close in the villa? Were you close?”, she offered an honest response.

"The girls are working on it," she confessed. "I definitely have and had a real friendship with Tanya and Tanyel. And Jessie."

In previous seasons there has certainly been an element of camaraderie between the girls, even when they didn’t find love they found friendship.

Millie Court and Chloe Burrows from Love Island 2021 are so inseparable the've moved in together and have matching bracelets welded onto their wrists for God’s sake.

During an episode of the Aftersun podcast, Sam Thompson was talking to his fellow host Love Island 2022 alumni, Indiyah Polack, about the lack of female friendships in the villa.

“I feel like the girls have been a little bit fractured and normally it’s the girls who are super tight," he explained and Indiyah was in agreement.

The duo were discussing if there was any true drama between Samie Elishi and Olivia Hawkins after THAT water throwing moment but Sam reckons Olivia just "overthinks" and could do with the girls stepping up.

"I think maybe she could do with a couple of girls around her being like hey, look, do you know what the worlds not against you here," Sam suggested.

Tanya Manhenga and Jessie Wynterhave certainly bonded after they both did the deed with their current fellas, Shaq Muhammad and Farmer Will, but not even being the only two girls who have gotten freaky in the villa has created the female fellowship we are all dying for.

Twitter is certainly desperate for some women supporting women behaviour with one viewer tweeting, "These girls are terrible friends. I'm sorry. Why is no one being honest????? #loveisland" and another stating, "Sorry but this year love island is not giving. The friendships are not even giving, no bromance like what's going onnnn #loveisland."

We are only half way through the series so maybe a new female friendship is soon to blossom, perhaps newbie Claudia Fogarty won't pick Casey O'Gorman as we all suspect but will pull a Katie Salmon and couple up with a girl instead...you never know.
