Remember when Love Island contestants were plucked from obscurity and chucked in the villa for a summer of love. It was a simpler time, wasn’t it? But that all changed during Love Island 2022 when producers threw a massive curveball at us and sent in Love Island 2018 love rat Adam Collard for another shot at love.

There was another ultimate bombshell the following summer too, as Love Island 2016’s Kady McDermott returned to the villa for Love Island 2023 – and what a return it was. Kady provided another huge shock when she coupled up with Zach Noble and sent Molly Marsh packing.

However, if you’re hoping to a former Islander return to the villa for Love Island 2024 alongside newbies like Ciaran Davies and Samantha Kenny then we’ve got some bad news…

After launching the first ever All Stars series earlier this summer, Love Island bosses have revealed that ultimate bombshell twist probably won’t return in the future.

Ahead of series 11, creative director Mike Spencer said, “All Stars is iconic, so I think it may be best to keep ex Islanders on All Stars now.”

He added, “I think as a separate format, All Stars is fantastic. I loved it.”

There is some good news though as it’s just been confirmed that All Stars will be returning for a second series. HURRAH.

All Stars will be back on our screen next year and it’s bound to be a series to remember as 2025 marks the ten-year anniversary of Love Island.

Mike said, “What a perfect way to celebrate a decade of Love Island, by bringing back another all star class of Islanders for what will I’m sure be another vintage year of romance, drama and relationships.”

He added, “Lots of Love Islanders have been in contact about series two of All Stars! Lots of fun people from series one onwards.”

The first series of All Stars was, of course, won by Molly Smith and Tom Clare, who beat out her ex Callum Jones and Jess Gale to take home the £50,000 prize money.

Nathan Katnoria is heat and Closer online’s senior digital writer. He became obsessed with Love Island when Malin Andersson came back to confront Terry Walsh in series two and hasn’t looked back since. When he’s not interviewing former Islanders, Nathan is scrolling through their Instagram feeds for relationship updates and piping hot tea.
